Shalom Chaverim, Shalom Chaverim, Shalom, Shalom...

I was just talking to some girls in my dorm that went to an Australian Catholic high school called “Shalom.” I soon discovered that their school song was “Shalom Chaverim,” the song I sang at Beth Emet Preschool! We spent a while singing it together/ comparing lyrics and pronounciations (ex: “chaverim” has been Aussie-fied to “ka-ve-rim” (“rim,” not “reem”). I fear this might be the closest to meeting Australian Jews I’m going to get!
